Blog Tour – Breeze Tween Top

June 23, 2014

Shannon invited me to participate in the Breeze Top pattern tour, and I just couldn’t say no!  Of course, the Girl has her own opinions and I wasn’t sure she would be as thrilled as I.  Fortunately, she liked the style and we worked on a top that she would wear.

Yes, this is the top she wore on the last day of school.  Got to have a cute outfit for the last day of school!

This top comes in options for both knit and woven, and I knew a knit is what my girl would want.  She is all about comfort.  I made it in a size 8, with a thin white knit and white stretch lace.  I did a double layered skirt on it, with no band at the bottom.

The knit I used was pretty thin, so I interfaced it with a tricot interfacing on the front piece.  It still stretched out a little bit on each side by about an inch.  I would suggest using a bit more stable knit than the one I used.

I did the back a little differently, and put the elastic across the whole back instead of just on the sides.  She is on the skinny side, so I figured she would need the entire back bunched up, and she did.

The bottom part of the skirt has the seam enclosed between the front and the back layers.  She likes to have pretty much ALL seams enclosed.

This is a pretty top and I highly recommend it.  It came together very easy, which is always a plus!  It probably took me a little longer than normal, as I interfaced and did a doubled up skirt, but it still didn’t take very long to make it.

The Breeze Top pattern will be 25% off this week with the code “BREEZETOUR” on her Etsy site. (EXP. June 27th 11:59pm)

  1. That is gorgeous. the Girl and the top. I made one, too, and my daughter is same, all about comfort. This is a fun pattern that is pretty and comfy. I love how delicate and lacy yours looks. Great work!

  2. Shannon, so glad to participate in the tour. I love the top, and so does she! 🙂

Thanks, Kathy…looking forward to seeing yours!

  3. Stacy this top is lovely. it is so delicate and feminine looking. With tweens being so particular about their wardrobe I am sure it presents a challenge every day. To find something that works for mom and daughter is a sure win.

  4. The knit may have been difficult to work with but the top turned out beautiful! Great idea to run the elastic across the whole back.

  5. Thanks so much, Ladies! 🙂

Donna, it does get harder to please them. You THINK you know what they like, then they turn on you after you have something made!

  6. I love your version of the top! The white and lace are very similar to some of the ‘boho chic’ tops that my daughter is constantly pinning.;)
