Faux cable knit

October 7, 2018

It never ceases to amaze me what designers can come up with for fabric patterns.  The push for faux fill-in-the-blank can give you a fun look with the comfort of knit.  I’ve seen faux leather, faux sparkles, faux glitter and here we have faux cable knit.  It gives you a look of winter, but without the heavy sweater or in my case, allergy to wool where I can’t stand the itch.

This had to be made into a fall tunic, of course!

This is my pattern draft. The only piece missing here is the bottom band that I didn’t do a pattern piece.  The pockets ended up a little too small and I wanted more height from the collar.  I adjusted the pieces for next time after I made up this first one.

I made the cowl go inward so it wasn’t floppy.  It also folds over nicely.

I do believe that I will be wearing this tunic a lot this winter.  it is super comfy and fun looking!

  1. Love your designs. They are classy and something different from what you might see in a store. And the color combos are great. Wish I had those talents !

    1. Thank you! I try to draft new patterns when I sew up samples just to make them stand out. Sometimes it can be a bit of a hair puller to get them done right, but I like the challenge!
