Focus – Week 43

October 29, 2018

My husband has been working from home as his office is being renovated, which really makes me finish up my work and leave the office faster!  He is on calls a lot, and right now my job is slowing to a crawl while I wait on other people…and really just don’t have much to do for the time being.

My accomplishments this week

Focus Photo –

Nothing here for the week.  I need to get some pictures of the fall colors before they all are gone!  It is very nearly there, too.  This year was a bad year for the colors due to the lack of sunshine and the continual rain.

Sewing –
  • I have pretty much given up on the 52 week sewing challenges, as I just can’t get it together enough to sew AND take pictures in the same week.  I had several black things done the week before and didn’t bother to submit.  This week the challenge was to sew a costume and that seemed a bit of a waste, as my kids don’t want to go trick or treating.  I don’t blame them…it’s cold here!
  • I sewed up a few wardrobe staples for the girl.  A pair of black French terry joggers, and a black FT top.  I told her I could add a vinyl design to the top if she wanted, so we will see if she desires a design.

  • I used the remainder of the armor fabric, plus the coordinating print, to make a top for the girl.
House cleaning –

This is more like the “house repairs” category!

This week we finally got a landscape company in to fix our egress window that the blocks were falling in on it.  The drainage was an issue, and was causing the middle to fall.  It was originally done by carpenters and not landscape people, and it worked well for about 7 years and then it started to go.  We tried to fix it a year or so ago, but this last year was a big problem with falling stones.  My sewing room is on the other side of this window, so I had an up close view of the damage.

This is what it looks like after they re-did the stones.

It turned out very nice and took them about 2 full days of work.

Time with family –

We have been spending a lot of our time in our own pursuits in the last few weeks.  We did take the kids to see Venom last week, and dude got to wear his FA Venom shirt to the movie:

Health, exercising, making healthy meals –
  • Exercised 2 times this week.  My goal was three times on the elliptical.  My knee has really been bothering me in the last few months, so I need to just keep it limber.  I’m not sure what I did…but apparently I did something!
  • Meals:
    • Monday: Corn chowder soup and fresh baked rolls (those rolls are a big problem in my eating!)
    • Tuesday: Sour cream noodle bake
    • Wednesday: Leftovers
    • Thursday: Chicken soup with matzo balls in the crockpot
    • Friday: Ended up having a friend stay overnight, so we ordered pizza
    • Saturday: Leftover pizza…soooo healthy
    • Sunday:  Steelhead trout with some spices I threw together and mashed potatoes
Creative Design –

Nothing this week.

Reading –

Still working on Frankenstein on the few minutes I take to chill and relax.

The next week ahead is another week free of sports.  I haven’t gotten much done, but it has been nice to relax!
