Focus – Week 44

November 5, 2018

I was actually able to get some things done last week.  It was so nice!  I didn’t have much work work to do, so I got some cleaning and organizing done around the house.  It will start to pick up a bit more, so I am glad I was able to sneak that in.

My accomplishments this week

Focus Photo –

The fall colors are really starting to wane.  Very little still on the trees here, but we had some nice reds in the bushes around our house.

Sewing –
  • My 52 week sewing challenge for the week was to sew a bag.  I wanted to do another version of my hip bag, so I pulled out my pattern and worked on a new one.  I will work on a blog post with a tutorial in the next week or so.
  • I got my two strike off’s made up for a Pride round at Fabric Anthropology, too.  One is a minky blanket for an auction, and one is a bamboo lycra top for me.  Generally, that is a bit too colorful for my tastes, but I made the top work into my preferred style.  I will be sharing that later this week.
  • I also made up a pair of lounge pants in the Green Bay plaid I purchased last year from RP Fabrics.  It goes with the top I made of the same print, but I will likely try to control my matchy-matchyness. 😉

House cleaning –

Since I had time with my job waning, I was able to get all three floors vacuumed and mopped.  I also worked on cleaning some windows, and organized a hall closet that was an overflowing mess.

Upon organizing the hall closet I discovered I had a crap ton of picture frames.  We had a photo wall upstairs, but I took it down since it was disorganized chaos and hadn’t been updated in awhile.  I need to pull out all of my picture frames and see I can get some order to the chaos.  One more project to add to the list!

Time with family –

We spent a little time by the fire on Friday night.  Such fleeting times.  We seem not do much on weekends where we don’t have tournaments or other plans.  We all retreat to our corners of the house and just chill.  I am okay with that, though.  We eat dinner together most nights and spend a whole lot of time together in the spring/summer/fall.  We all just need a break now.

Health, exercising, making healthy meals –
  • Exercised 1 time last week.  I think the vacuuming and mopping should count, though.  I know I was sore when I was done!
  • Meals for this week:
    • Monday: sausage and black bean enchilada casserole thing.  I only have corn tortillas, so I am going to stack it all up in my cast iron skillet and bake it like that.
    • Tuesday: Chicken fried rice
    • Wednesday: Brocollini and sausage pasta
    • Thursday: Leftovers
    • Friday: Bourbon chicken, rice and corn
    • Saturday: Chicken & couscous soup and fresh rolls
    • Sunday: Dinner at church
Creative Design –

I did draw out a design, but I haven’t gotten it loaded and worked into a full pattern.  Need to get back to my weekly designs!

Reading –

Not much this past week.  Just re-reading some sci-fi romances to chill.  I do have a 3 book series I want to read by Thea Harrison.  I think it is done now, and she just released the 3rd book.  I know when I sit down to read I won’t be doing much else, so I have been waiting!  Those are good to read over holiday breaks, so you can go from one book to the next.

This next week we are starting on driving classes for the boy, so that is some running that will have to happen.  I liked this last few weeks with no running!
