Focus

Focus – Weeks 35-40

October 11, 2018

You know, I thought once the kids started school, things we get less hectic.  That first month of school, along with both kids in high school sports, was another fast-paced month.  There was a lot of running back and forth for practices and games, along with the extra club fastpitch softball.  We didn’t go to all of the after school “meet the teachers” programs, and I don’t even feel bad.  My kids do well in school, and it has just gotten a bit too much.  We have another few weeks of two sports and then we get a month break (hopefully).

Due to all that, not much sewing happened.  I’m still working at my job, and September was busy.  I’m thinking it will start slowing down soon and then I can maybe focus on doing some other things.

My accomplishments this week

Sewing –

This last month I have been doing the bare minimum.  I just haven’t had the time or energy to do more.  I did make a few things, in addition to working on a project I can’t show yet!  That should be soonish, though.  I think it will be revealed this weekend or so.

I was going to try to go through and sew up my stash for September, but that was short-lived.  Just no time.

  • Here is a purse I made up that I really enjoy carrying.

  •  I sewed up some school clothes for the girl, but she needs more.  I have fabric, but I just need to get to the cutting part!  She loved the soft joggers in bamboo fleece.

Things I need to make right now (though the folks may be staying over in our guest/craftroom this weekend).

  • Finish one more item for “the project” and photograph it.
  • I have a one yard bamboo lycra strike-off, but not due until the end of the month
  • I have a minky blanket strike off to make for a charity auction
  • More joggers and tops for the girl
House cleaning –

It has been mostly on me, as the kids haven’t had a lot of time between sports and homework.  I’m hoping for some help now that they are mostly done.

Time with family –

Again…sports!

Health, exercising, making healthy meals –
  • Working on it.
  • I have been busting out the crockpot the last few weeks and trying to do some meal planning.  Being at home during the day has really helped in getting meals on the table with some variety.  My crockpot has been a pretty regular staple on the counter, though.  I’ve ventured into making soups with dried beans, which is pretty easy!
Creative Design –

I have been drawing some skulls lately.  Here is a steer skull and wolf skull.

This is a pattern I made with two ribbon designs I drew over the weekend.  I just overlap in different directions to see what kind of a design I can get from the initial drawing.

Reading –

I’ve just been re-reading some romance novels.  Nothing new, though.  I have a whole pile of books I want to get to.  I did start reading Frankenstein, though.  That is on the “must read” list.

This week the girl is done with high school volleyball and next week the boy will be done with high school football.  We then get a rare month-long break in sports.  I am really looking forward to it!
