I’ve been productive

April 1, 2008

Last weekend I went on a sewing binge and did some fun sewing.

Toile Froo Froo

I thought I would use a shortcut and take a major brand pattern company’s bodice pattern for sizing and use that to make this dress.  Big mistake.  It was way too big.  I will have to rip apart the bodice on this little number in order for it to fit Anya.  The bodice is too wide and the straps too long so it pretty much falls off of her.  I’ll need to fix that…before summer.  I have time!

Bubbles Recon

This outfit is a pair of too short 2T Levis that will still fit her in the waist.  I turned them into capris and added a ruffle and some rick rack.  Then I took a plain Old Navy t-shirt (bought on clearance last Fall) and added the same fabric in a circle applique and added the little flower applique I bought for 50 cents.  A cute casual outfit!

Bleu et Verte Chemise (blue and green dress – it seemed to need a fancier name 😉 )

My design…similar to other dresses I have made.  It is a fitted dress with a shirred back and lots of ruffles!  I actually had some matching ribbon for the little ribbon on the front.  A pretty twirly dress.

Mary Engelbert Outfit

This turned out so cute!  The fabric on this little number is by Mary Engelbert.  A cute red plaid with a coordinating print.  It’s a basic peasant top, and I added shirring to the bottom hem to bring it in.  The skirt is just a simple ruffle skirt that I designed.  Skirts really aren’t too difficult.  All you need is some measurements and do some math (addition, subtraction…really not too hard).

Now, I have to work on a project for Craft Apple.  I agreed to test sew a car organizer, so I need to get on that!  I just really had an urge to make some little girl outfits this weekend, so I put off other things I should have done…like usual. 😉

  1. Wow ! I am more and more amazed with your talents every time I come by to visit !!! I love the sewing. Probably more so because I so cannot sew !! I’d love to learn. Maybe I’ll take some lessons. I’m concentrating on learning how to paint and speak Spanish this year though !! Maybe I’ll start sewing lessons next year !! 🙂

  2. Yeah, Anya is going to be sooo styling! I love the capri/ruffle idea! I may have to steal that one, since I have some stretch girls in my house.

My favorite is the blue/green dress, no maybe the first one, mmmm…no probably the Mary Engelbert one. I can’t choose, they are all gorgeous! You have been so crazy busy…beautiful work, as always!

  3. Those are adorable….what a great idea to lengthen Anya’s jeans by adding the fabric. If I were handy with a sewing machine, I’d be doing that right now with Lauren’s!

  4. These are so cute, I miss dressing my girls in such fun outfits. Enjoy it while it lasts, it goes so quickly. I really each and everyone of them, Anya will be the envy of all the moms and girls!

  5. Thanks ladies! I was really happy with this set – I hope Anya likes to wear them!

  6. Holy smokes, woman! You are incredible! I can’t believe how many outfits you sew, and so quickly, and each one beautifully unique and perfect. Wow. I can’t even pick a favorite.

  7. Good productivity! What cute designs. :)I especially like the Bleu et Verte Chemise. I like the band going around the waist and how it separates out the look a little. Your pictures and fabrics are always so wonderful to see.

  8. All of them are beautiful but my favorite for creativity and because we are so casual in our dress is the Capri outfit with shirt. How absolutely cute!!! Can’t wait to see her in them!

  9. Wow. You are really good! I love love your end results! I might be inspired to try something myself…but I think my cute little baby girl has tunred into a “I can’t shop THERE” teeny-bopper! Sigh…

  10. You are so stinkin’ talented and creative! I have two little boys and a little girl, and I’m hoping I can come up with some cute outfits to make for them.
