Little dude and his robe

September 8, 2015

My son loves his robe.  He lives in the thing.  He will throw on some of the flannel pants that I have made him and the robe, and if we have no where to go on the weekends he will wear it all day long.  That thing could go take a walk, since he barely puts in the wash.  I think he is afraid I will put it in the charity pile, since it is a little short.  And small.

Time for an upgrade.

I took the robe and traced out the width of it, since he liked how wide it was already.  I then added about a foot to the length and several inches, plus a cuff to the arms.  The neckline piece I traced from the existing robe, and it is an extension from the front that meets at the back neckline.  It is faced (doubled up), so it is nice and cozy.  It has a belt and belt loops, plus the belt is attached at the back so he doesn’t lose it.

I made sure he had a front pocket to carry his ever-present iPod.

Now he is all ready for lounging (a.k.a. playing the X Box) this winter.  🙂

When I got it finished, it was late at night.  I made sure to put it on a chair in the kitchen area, since I figured he would want to wear it.  I was right.  By the time I got up in the morning, he already had it on.  He is a happy camper!

    1. Thanks! He grew a ton this summer…probably 4 inches. He’s around 5′ 3″ now at 11, so I imagine he is going to be pretty tall!
