More birthday bling

May 19, 2009

On Sunday the Princess had her party with friends.  The occassion warranted another dress, of course.  This one has a bunch of butterflies on it and is seersucker.  It’s very twirly, too, of course.  The same self-drafted pattern as the last one.  The seersucker definitely gave it some volume…beyond just being twirly.  It was plenty full.

See…very twirly.

And very full when you are trying to decapitate the Mermaid.

For the little girls decending on our home, they got little treat bags.  I got these pink bags at Michael’s for a few bucks each.  A little fabric paint and the girl’s have their personalized pickin’-up-the-pinata-loot bag.

I painted their faces at the beginning of party…7 little faces…one superhero and 6 butterflies.  Can you guess who was the superhero?

Anya got some fun presents from her friends and hopefully they enjoy their little bags of goodies.  They got candy from the pinata, we decorated some foam butterflies with glitter stickers, and they got Ariel bubbles and an Ariel bracelet.  Fun stuff for little girls!  Kailan got a blue bag, of course, and I put some little knights in it for him.  He was very happy with that.

I have more sewing to show, but I’ll just leave it at this for today.  Hopefully I will have a big long post next week full of goodies. I should be able to get some sewing time with the long weekend ahead…I hope.  Kailan is sorely lacking in the shorts department, and summer might just sneak up on us! 🙂

  1. I love your new dress design. I like the way you have been using snaps too. You seriously need to sell some of your patterns on etsy. It sounds like Anya had a spectacular birthday!!!

  2. Adorable dress, very twirly!

Sounds like a wonderful party…I love that you took the extra time to not have K feel left out, such a good momma:)

  3. What a perfect party – and a perfect party dress! I love it. I also like the crafted bags – then they have a party favor that they can reuse instead of a plastic bag to trash. Nice work as always.

And I knew that you would know what kind of dress I had up today! I’m glad to have a name for it – it looked really cute on her this morning, but I really want to try some twirly, ruffly skirts for summer. Back to work on the tunics, though…

  4. Oooh, I really like that dress! I thought I recognized those bags, too – I just restocked them a couple days ago at our store. 🙂

  5. Thanks ladies!

Olivia, yes those are snaps. I have a ton of different colors and it so fun to use them. 🙂

  6. Pinatas are the best for birthdays! Looks like an excellent time to me. I like the idea of crafting little candy pick up bags for the girls. I bet they liked that too. 🙂

  7. What a fun day for your sweetie girl! I love all that you did to make it such a special day for her and her guests…. You are such a great momma.. you can just tell with all the care and detail that you put into loving your kids… it’s such a delight to see!

    Hugs.. Amy

  8. That dress works really well doesn’t it? I think it’s funny how all the young girls are wearing jeans and trousers under their pretty dresses now. Wish I had the guts….
The party looks like a great success. I’ve done a bit of party face painting myself from time to time, it goes down a treat doesn’t it? I love doing the butterflies :-)I think it’s great when there are craft activities and things at parties too. I like the kids to be interactive and involved in creating things not just having things handed to them on a plate 😀 Good job!

  9. I said it before, but I love that you painted thier faces. Super fun..for all of you! You get to be creative and they get to benefit. :0) The personalized bags was a cute idea too.
