More dresses for moi

July 20, 2009

I even hurried up and modeled them for you Internets!   I always feel like such a heel bringing my tripod out in the backyard, but I got them taken. 🙂

I made these dresses this weekend from patterns.  The first one is from a Project Runway pattern by Simplicity #3530 and the other is the same pattern as this dress from before.  I do like how they both fit, with an exception of the billowy front on the blue one.  I bet I could hide a good 6 month baby bump under that.  Oh well.  I really like the fresh looking fabric and it was time consuming with lots of pintucking on the sleeves and the front.  It even has a zipper in the back that doesn’t look too horrible.  The pink one is so very pink…and bright…I’m not sure where to wear it yet.

Then I made this cute apron for me.  All mine!  When I get home from work I usually don’t change out of my nice clothes before I start in on dinner.  I have on more than one occassion received tomato or olive oil smatterings on my white tops.  Time to make a cute apron!  I really like this fabric, so I made up a pattern (sorta)  and it is fully reversable.  Lots of pleats in this one.

I also made a camera strap slipcover for my camera that has a spot to put my lens cover.  It’s been on my to-do list FOREVER.  I am constantly losing my lens caps.  Of course, I put the strap back on my camera before I took a picture of it and I’m too lazy to take it off again.  Just imagine a really cute green celtic camera strap cover with a little spot of shirred fabric that will fit a lens cap.  Got it pictured?  Okay!

There ya have it!

Upcoming creativity and craftiness:

  • I am working on editing a photo shoot for a little 3 year old boy from Sunday.  I have quite a few out of focus…he was a spry little bugger!
  • I’m going to try my hand at embroidery.  Wish me luck!
  • I also made a little Barbie wedding dress out of satin that I am going to attempt some beading on it.

Quite a bit of futsiness on the docket for this week!

  1. I’ve been thinking about getting one of those lens strap covers – I am CONSTANTLY losing my lens caps too!

That apron is amazing! And, of course, as usual, you look amazing as well – I don’t know where all of that “padding” you are always talking about is hiding…

  2. Rach found one of those camera straps and bought it….
yea it was pink with a floral pattern….

Not to bad to look at, but then she wants me to carry it for her all the time….GO FIGURE!!!!!!LOL

    PS the dresses look great..

  3. I want to see the camera strap! I bought one from etsy, not a cover but an entire strap and it kept slipping off (not good) so I had to get rid of it. This is a better idea–a slip cover.
    You look beautiful!

  4. ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha HA! I know, pooooor Mr. Daddy having to carry around a camera with a pink floral strap cover. And come hunting season, this poor chick will have to deal with him walking into the house and tracking hunting guts around. I think it’s a more than fair trade, eh?

Love the first dress especially! And yeah, I’m a closet fan of Project Runway! And what’s the matter with wearing the pink one to work? It looks absolutely amazing with your skin, eyes, and hair!

And you are one busy chica… you’re making the rest of us look a wee bit lazy if we just manage to get the housework done 😉

Have a great week! Looking forward to more of your creations!

  5. Look at you all oriental in that pink one! Wild. Wish I could see the pin tucks more closely on the blue :-)And the apron is soooo out there! I love the first side with the autumn colours but that’s just me. I wouldn’t want to spill anything on it !!!

  6. Both dresses are wonderful. I especially love the pink one. What a marvelous idea to have a place for your lens cap on the camera strap. I can’t tell you how many times I have lost mine. I am totally going to make myself one now. I would love to spend more time mastering embroidery. Have you checked out these sites before? They are my favorite.

  7. I REALLY love the blue/white dress! It is adorable! And I soooo need a lens cap cover on my camera strap! I lost my lens cap for my 50mm when I was in Hawaii and had to go buy one…grrr. If I don’t have pockets, it is a lost cause! And I’m working on an apron…maybe by next week?

I can’t wait to see the photo session and embroidery! You are just incredibly multi-talented, my friend!

  8. You look marvelous. You’re so pretty Stacy!
I am always amazed at your work too.
I love the apron. I am like you, I start dinner as soon as I hit the front door. I love the apron, I like how it goes around your sides a little more than most.

  9. Your sewing is dso creative and distinctive – do you and the kids get comments everywhere you go wearing one of your creation?? I especially love the Dorothy/Wizard of Oz feel of the first blue dress. It’s YOU that makes the dress, tho – I didn’t think much it it hanging on the hanger, but on you it’s lovely!

But the apron – the whole point of an apron is that you don’t care if it gets dirty, and I’d want to protect a beauty like that!!

  10. I can’t believe how good in pink you look! Both dresses look great on you. 🙂 And yes the fabric for the taggy blanket languishes I’m hopeful for sometime this week. E.C. is incredible fussy and I have less down time than I did with W.W. that’s for sure.

  11. Ooo Embroidery! I love embroidered things. Its such a personal and delicate touch to things. Great dresses Stacy. Both of them look fantastic.
