Here are the remaining two of the February themes.
Week 8: Sew something with leftover fabric
Undies are my go-to for using up leftover fabrics. I try to use cotton or bamboo fabric, but some of these are poly blends. I have a lot of pieces, and I try to keep ones that I can turn into something. I definitely got some pieces mostly used up. I have a pattern that I have used for years, so it is nice to be able to sew these up quickly.

Once they are cut out it takes probably 30-45 minutes to get them sewn. It depends on how I did the waist and legs. I have done it many different ways, with knit on the waist and legs, fold over elastic and fancy lace elastics. They all have some things I like and dislike, so right now I just used what I had.

The first pair didn’t turn out great as I wasn’t pulling the elastic at all when serging it on so it is over extended. I’m sure they will still fit, but a slight pull on the elastic is needed so they are not stretched out.
Example:

These are comfy undies. They are on the bulkier side under clothes unfortunately. Definitely not hidden. But good under comfy clothes, and if you just don’t care. 😄
Week 9: Sew something without a pattern
The cape basically covered this, but I will use this for this top, as well. I usually draft my own patterns, but not sure whether that fits the theme. I drafted this pattern in January. It was drafted from a picture from Pinterest.

I did want my version to be longer; however, I find one of the biggest things that holds me back with sewing things is not having enough fabric for a project. Another case here. It couldn’t be as long due to the fabric limitation. The main fabric was not enough, so I had to use another black rayon-type of fabric for the undershirt part. At least I had it on hand. I’ve got lots of black pieces of fabric all over the place.
This takes about 3 yards of fabric. I only had 2 of the top fabric.

I can see this being a fun sleeveless top pattern with maybe a chiffon over the top. That would be fun. I have several chiffon pieces that I need to figure out how to use.

Whew! Now the last two from February is done.
