A little bit of linen

March 5, 2012

This outfit is sorta from something she picked out of a catalog (Garnet Hill).  She wanted some shorts and a top, but I did them in different colors and slightly different styles.

The shorts are linen, so they should breathe nicely this summer.  It was just a simple shorts pattern, with a ruffle added along the bottom.

The shirt is a cotton lycra blend knit.  I drew out the flower on freezer paper and painted it in.

Then I removed the freezer paper, added some dabs in a little lighter color (that you can hardly tell) in the middle, heat set it with an iron,  and then hand sewed the gems on it.  She’s like a magpie…she is drawn to shiny things.  😉

After the handsewing was done I constructed it as you would normally.

Cute little outfit!

I got a bunch of sewing done for me last week, but I need to get pictures of everything, yet.  I’ll probably get that posted this week at some point.
