Almost summer and that image in the mirror

May 26, 2012

I have committed a fashion faux pas, apparently.  White jeans before Memorial Day.  Is that even a current faux pas?  If people can wear pajama pants to the grocery store, you would think I could wear white jeans before Memorial Day.

These jeans are another CAbi purchase.  When I got them, they were pretty snug, but they tend to make their jeans with plenty of lycra.  After the first wearing, I washed them and the second time putting them on they fit much better.

Or maybe I lost some weight in between wearings.

Could be.

Lately  my weight has been on a bit of a YO-YO.  I go up 5 lbs and go down 3 lbs.  I went to Vegas and lost about 4-5 lbs in 5 days as I was eating less fatty foods, less carbs and drinking a bunch of water.  Now to keep that up at home.

Not going so well right now.

I know that I don’t necessarily look like I need to diet.  Unfortunately, I have flub around my waistline that is really uncomfortable to me.  I bend and I can feel the creases.  Yet, I hear about people having “chub rub” on their thighs in the summer and this is something I have only briefly  experienced when I was pregnant and then when I was 20 lbs heavier.  I have chicken legs.

When I pass in front of the mirror lately, I sometimes think, “Wow, my hips are a lot smaller than I thought they were”.  Then I put on a bathing suit and all those good thoughts are dashed against the rocks into a thousand pieces.

It was interesting people watching at the pool in Vegas.  It is obvious that some people are much more comfortable in their skin than others.  Women that were heavier than I were wearing bikini’s.  I have worn a bikini once as an adult.  It was on my honeymoon, and I was not comfortable wearing it.

I probably should have worn one when my hubby and I went to Vegas in between my pregnancies.  I had just weaned my little guy, and  I was probably in the best shape of my life at that point.  You can’t imagine the calories you burn when you nurse a little piggie like my son.  I couldn’t make enough milk to fill him up, and I made a lot of milk.  I also occasionally worked out, and my boobs were still “nursing boobs” a.k.a. a cup size larger than normal.  I would have rocked a bikini…as long as you ignored my stretch marks. 😉
