The reason why I hate using patterns

January 18, 2011

They don’t friggin’ fit me all that well.

I spent…oh, a good 4-6 hours making this pretty vest. I even made a muslin to make sure it would fit me well enough. The muslin was too big, so I took in the seams. It ended up too small in the bosom area. The *girls* are a bit squished when I wear it. So much for that! Ugh!

It’s pretty, though, isn’t it? See how nicely the back matched up at the seams?? I actually was thinking when I cut it out.

I might make another one, only with a bit more room up top. I really like the overall fit of the pattern. I just need a bit more breathing room.

And that is something I got done a few weeks ago…and all I’ve got.  I haven’t set my sewing room back up after cleaning it for some parties we have had.  Now that we are done with them, I can put everything back out.  There is a skirt I want to make for myself, from another pattern , and I hope it will fit.  It’s more of a summer weight skirt with silky fabrics, so I’m fairly certain it will be a huge pain to put together.  I’m a glutton for punishment, that is for sure.

  1. Your vest is gorgeous. Love that fabric. I have been moving slow on the sewing front too. I have a couple of wip, but no urgency to actually finish them.

  2. Oh I LOVE this. I am a vest fan and the fabric and rich ruby contrast really appeal here. Unlike you though, I ONLY work with patterns 🙂
