Yes, another one

November 2, 2010

So on Wednesday I realized that I hadn’t put anything into Anya’s class basket for the PTO Carnival that was to be held that Friday.  The theme was “Crafting with Kids”, so what did I make?

Yes!  You guessed it! (How smart you are!)

I made another art purse/satchel.  I asked Anya to help me pick out the fabrics, and I specified it had to appeal to both girls AND boys.  I steered her towards this one and we picked out the coordinating fabrics.  Anya picked out laces and ribbons and beaded trims to put on it, as well.

She thought boys would definitely like them.  I informed her that it was a possible misconception of hers, and I would use those for a dress in her future.  She acquiesced and we agreed on the final look.  A bit plain, but I figured the batik fishies and shells would be good for both boys and girls.  Brian informed us that keeping the purple to a minimum would be good.

Hopefully you agree this is gender friendly…or at least the person that bought the basket will think it is. 🙂

Anya has a blue dress in process.  I may need to add some length to it, so the design may need some tweaking.

I am going to start on the not-so-fun-sewing of the chair folder pockets soonish.  I have the fabric, it is washed, and I have informed her teacher that the process has begun.  This means I should produce some results at some point in the next month.  I think the end of next week is teacher conferences, so maybe I can get them done in time for that and bring them with me.  Pressure is on!

Then! Well, then I have more to do, as usual.  I have decided on what I want to do for our Christmas card this year, and I need to make some outfits for the kids for it (of course!).  If I can do what I want this will be a pretty cool card.  I hope.  It might be a little dark, though.  I’ll have to see what the execution turns out like.

Then again, I may just drop the ball completely like last year and send nothing out at all.  There’s a 50/50 chance…all things considered.

  1. I think the art purse is definitely gender neutral. I have not even thought about a Christmas card yet so you are doing better than me. It sounds cool though. I hope you are able to excute it.

  2. oh, honey. seriously? you had to bring up those christmas cards!? 🙂
i am in denial that it is indeed november, i guess.

but i do like that art purse! yes, it will work for a boy, i think!
