The unsung heros of being able to sew is all those small things that you tackle.
Example:
- I purchased some fleece lined hose that were XL everywhere but the waist. I still wanted them, but they would have been soooo very uncomfortable to wear, so I cut off the waist and added some elastic. Now I have comfy warm hose to wear with skirts in the winter.
- Hubby tends to leave his keys, wallet, lip balm, glasses, etc. all on a side table in the living room, so I made a catch-all with some veg-tan leather and lacing.
- My daughter likes to buy things from thrift shops, but they don’t always fit. I’ve fixed several pieces to have them fit her better.
- Fixing things I made that didn’t work:
- Black pull on denim pants waist needed to be redone
- Cream pinstripe pants that I needed a new waistband to fit better
- Skirt was too long and unflattering, so shortened it
- A skort I made last year that was too tight in the waist. I took it off and added a new waist, which may be a bit too big, but at least I can wear it.
I also had a few things that I made that I had cut out at some point in the past few months. Sometimes I go through spurts when I cut out some stuff and then I have to figure out what I was thinking of doing when I cut it out. I have a sweatshirt I cut out several years ago…no idea how it’s suppose to look.
White sleeveless top in bamboo lycra drafted from a RTW top I wear pretty often in black. (fabulous hanger picture!)

A bamboo lycra black empress waist knee length dress. Super comfy layered with fleece tights and a sweater cardigan for work.

A couple pair of underwear from fabric scraps. I make some every so often with my go-to pattern.

This is the catch-all for my husband’s stuff.

I have lots of ideas for things to make and finally have some energy to work on them. I have LOTS of fabric sitting around that needs to be used…just calling to me. 😉
