Travelin’ attire

March 27, 2026

Whether it is by plane or by car, it is always nice to have a comfy outfit to wear. I made this dressy casual outfit from a navy bamboo fleece and a heather blue ponte fabric. I was going to make the jacket out of all ponte, but then, alas, by eyeball measurement of having enough fabric failed yet again. It worked out in the end, as I think this version ended up pretty well with the complimentary fabrics.

So, this was another “draft on the fly” and there were a few things that went wrong.

  1. The front bottom facing was too short, so I had to cut into the front a bit, but I had enough room in the pattern.
  2. The hood ended up way too long, so I put a cord in the front facing to pull it in. I didn’t do a drawstring and just sewed the ends into the seam. Not ideal, but at that point it was too late to add a hole for the drawstring. This should be fine.
  3. The pockets on the sweatpants don’t lay flat, so push out a bit. I will try another pocket next time.

Overall, I think it fits pretty well. It fits at this weight, so if I lose weight it will be more loose fitting.

Jacket – unlined with sweatshirt fabric on the hood, arms and waist.

The arms, I added some elastic in the wrist in case I wanted to push them up and have them stay up. I tend to do that pretty often right now and don’t like things at my wrists.

The sweatpants have pockets and a v-channel in the side seam to give them a wider look. I put elastic at the bottom, so they don’t drag on the ground too much and fit better with shoes.

Wearing pictures (using my timer on my phone, so need some work):

    1. Thanks, Audrey! I figured it would be good to take a nap on the plane, too, since I could pretty much cover my whole head lol!

I love to hear comments! Sometimes comments hit my spam, so be patient. I will find it! xoxo
