Black keyhole dress/tunic

March 9, 2019

Wardrobe basics are such great sews, and this one I know I will get a lot of distance in wearing it.  I wear a lot of black, so black layering pieces are really nice to have.  This one can work for all seasons.  I am wearing it under a cardigan I made, but it will work great alone as a casual dress in the summer.

I used heavy bamboo lycra from Nature’s Fabrics for the dress.

This was my own pattern.  I used it for a dress I made last summer, so no new drafting on this one.

It was pretty straight-forward for construction.  I tend to top-stitch everything with a lightning bolt stitch.  The finish is so much better that way.

I did make the keyhole less deep on this one, since the last one I did showed my bra too often.  This should work well, though.

Now onto a fun filled weekend of sports!  I made these yesterday for a volleyball tournament this weekend for my daughter’s team.  Now hopefully they do well!
