Focus – Week 12 & 13

April 7, 2018

Well, it happened…I missed a week.  Work has been kicking my arse lately, and I really didn’t sew much in the last few weeks.

It was my first full week working from home, too, and I do quite like it.  I did end up still working late pretty much everyday, but being able to shut the laptop and go downstairs is much easier than commuting home.   So much for having more free time in working from home…hahahahaha!  Nope!  I just have the ability to work later.  I need some work life – balance…pronto.   These past few weeks are pretty busy for us accountants, so I know it will get better soon.

We are slowly getting into a schedule as the kids’ busy sports schedules start to ramp up.  We have managed to get on a carpool with 4 other families for the girls softball, so while the logistics of organizing everyone is proving a little challenging, it is nice to only have to run one or two legs a week as opposed to twice a day.  Yay for carpooling!

My accomplishments this week

Focus Photo –

Week 12 – We had a volleyball one-day tournament, and the girls did a good job.  They got into the winners bracket, and though they lost, they played well.

Week 13 –

Cat: I may have misjudged this box a bit.

Sewing –
  • My 52 week sewing challenge for week 12 was felt, and I wasn’t going to do it.  I’m not a huge fan, and didn’t have much time.  I just sewed up my strike-off earlier in the week, then on the weekend did some home décor items.  I will get those posted here this next week.  Week 13 was sewing a new pattern.  I got nothing done for those. I barely had time to sew.

  • #makenine progress:  Nothing this week.
House cleaning/updating –

Now that I am working from home, I am at least keeping up on the laundry.  I don’t really want to get in the habit of doing all the housework, which has been happening too much lately.  I do believe my offspring need to step it up a notch.

The dining room is pretty well updated, and I just need to hang some pictures.  I will get a blog post up on soon.

Time with family –

Not much time for “quality time” lately, and it is going to get worse.  We try to eat together as a family as much as possible, but this is getting harder and harder to do lately.  Hopefully we can make this work a few times a week as we head into the heavy travel softball/baseball and volleyball season mix.

Health, exercising, making healthy meals –
  • My weight went down a smidge.  I am hoping to get into exercising 3 times this week.  That is my initial goal.  We’ll see if it happens.  I am going to have to ease into it.  I am woefully out of shape right now.  It’s so bad.  At least my vertigo seems to have departed for the time being. Hopefully I get a few months reprieve before it comes back again.
Creative Design –

I decided to try to set up a shop for my designs on products.  Whether or not I sell anything is hard to tell.  I need to spend a little bit of time figuring out a naming system and description.  I’d like it to be creative and catchy.  In doing so, I need to really sit down and spend time thinking about what I want to do.

Reading –

Is it sad that I was proud of myself for sitting down to read an issue of Smithsonian Magazine?  Yes, pretty sure it is.  I did learn about cannibalistic hamsters in France, though.  Cray, cray world we live in.

Looking ahead to this week, it seems like it will be calmer.  Let us hope that continues.  I hope everyone has a wonderful week ahead, as we go into Easter weekend (no, I don’t sew Easter clothes for my kids anymore).
