Sharks

April 7, 2018

Well, she’s all ready for the next shark week!

The girl loves sharks, and also did a project for one of her classes on ocean pollution.  It was an eye-opening experience for her on what us humans do to our ecology.  She is very interested in animals, and plans to become a veterinarian.  We’ll see if that holds, but she does love animals!

Right now she is researching elephant conservation, so I made her a top to go along with her presentation.  That will be forthcoming soon.

Here is the shark I put on this top:

As usual, the file is in my Google Drive folder linked on the side.

The fabric here is from Sugar Ink, and up for pre-order.

I actually asked for the other coordinate to go with this strike-off, which is a black/white colorway.  I think both of them do look good with the sharks, so not a big deal.

The top here is a highly hacked pattern, so giving the underlying pattern wouldn’t really be helpful.  I changed the armsyce, added arms (it was sleeveless), adding the color-blocking and changed the hemline.

I must like to torture myself, since all those angles are not the easiest to do.  I’m getting better at them, though, since I have been doing them quite often lately.

I used a navy cotton lycra for the color-blocking on the top.

The bottoms are a modified Domi from Sofilantjes Patterns.  I tried to make deeper pockets and added an inside pocket lining.  This is instead of stitching down the pocket, though it does add more bulk.  The pockets still aren’t deep enough for her, so I will add another 3″ or so.  She can’t fit her phone.  Oh the horror!

The main fabric on the pants is ponte.  It is a pretty comfortable outfit overall!

Details on the fabric:

The pre-order is open from today until April 21st.
