For the birds – summer skort and tank

June 30, 2020

Hey, finally went into my sewing room! As I spend the majority of my day sitting in our home office, with an occasional Zoom meeting and a noon walk around a neighborhood lake, I wanted something comfy and nice looking.

The skort pattern is my old standby that I drafted several years ago. I can throw my phone in the side pocket in case work calls while we are on our walk.

The tank is a pattern I received from Cali Faye for a contest several years ago. It is for a woven tank, but no bust darts, so I decided to use it with this lightweight hachi knit I purchased from Joann’s. It is very soft fabric and super comfy. I haven’t made this pattern in woven, but like I said…no bust darts (for a $14 pattern). If you make it, I would suggest cutting on the bias to give it a better drape.

I should have downsized the fit. It is a bit too wide. Unfortunately I cut another white tank out before wearing this one. It will work. I will just make sure I throw them in the dryer to hopefully shrink a little bit.

I had the birds cut out, so I added them to the tank for some fun visual appeal. My own design, digitized and cut with my Silhouette Cameo on HTV.

Quite subpar modeling pictures, unfortunately. I took them after a long day sitting at my computer and the camera wasn’t focusing great, on top of some ill placed sun. I will try more for the next time, as I do have a white tank top cut out. I may make another skort to go with it.

We shall see…I may be on a roll. It is at least nice and cool in the basement where my sewing room is, so it is an oasis from the heat!
