Long cardigan

January 28, 2020

I must admit…I love a good long cardigan. It offers nice bottom coverage and tends to be a bit warmer in the winter. This fabric was a bit thin, but we are in a warm streak here at above 25 degrees F. It had plenty of warmth for the mild winter temperatures.

The pattern draft here was another pattern hack. I made this in another few forms before with a cardigan and my caped vest.

The base is the Basic top pattern from Wardrobe by me. I then curved the front, created a facing and made the armcyce’s and sleeve head larger, and the sleeves wider.

I had intended the bottom to be straight across, but I ran out of fabric for the long facing on the front, so I ended up curving it a bit.

The facing is in three pieces with the long front pieces and a curved section around the neckline.

The fabric is a lightweight sweater knit that was a little bit of a pain to sew. Sweater knits are never super fun, but at least this one didn’t fray too much.

It is my fabric colors….black and white, so it is sure to get worn lots!
