Moto pants

May 6, 2019

As part of my #makenine for 2019, I put a pair of moto looking leggings on it. After thinking about it for a bit, I decided that I would change it up to be more pants similar to the ones I made last fall for my Warrior outfit. These were self-drafted and require some different cuts.

I found some faux leather moto fabric at Joann’s while looking for zippers (you never can leave without looking at the fabrics, right??), and I also used some faux leather scuba knit I purchased a few years back from there, as well. The other black fabric is a heavy-weight ponte lycra blend. It is so great for making these types of pants since it holds it’s shape so well.

These required a whole lot of topstitching. Every one of those blocked seams were top-stitched. If you don’t top-stitch them they can get really irritating.

I thought they ended up a little short (thank you Joann’s for not cutting my fabric on grain!), so I added a split band at the bottom.

I am wearing them here with a new draped top I made last week. It is from my own fabric design that I got printed at TNT Custom Printing. More on that later. It printed a true black on bamboo, so I’m happy with how it turned out!

Now I am done with 3 of my #makenine2019. I need to get on it for the rest of them!
