Hair | Outfits | Stuff I made

Trial and error

June 27, 2012

I made this outfit in the past week.  As in…I made the top last night and couldn’t wait to wear it!  The pants were try #2 on a new pattern I drafted.  Try #1 consisted of a lovely black linen that resulted in a less than flattering pair of summer pants.  You win some, you lose some.  These pants are cotton ticking, so not very heavy material.  Good for summer!

The top didn’t turn out like I really wanted, as I wanted it less fitted all around.  I barely had the width available to get it this wide.  I have seen so many cute lace tops around, that I knew I had to get one made up.  I found this fabric in a box of one off runs at the fabric warehouse that I buy most of my fabric.  At first I was going to make something for the girl with it, then I got selfish.

Another thing I like about this shirt is that you can really change it up by wearing different colored camis or fitted tops underneath it.  I can easily wear this in the winter with a fitted long sleeved t-shirt underneath it, too.  Love it when they have a lot of options!

Top and pants – Made by Me

Cami – JC Penny

Earrings – Montana Silversmith (I forget where I got the necklaces)

Shoes – Nine West

Hair – My hair was very poofy this morning after I brushed out the braids from the last few days, so it went into another big braid along one side, then I braided the rest of the hair in another smaller braid.  I put the bigger braid up in a “bun”, pinned, then put the smaller braid around it and pinned everything well so it wouldn’t move.

  1. Great top and I can see how it would be versatile. These style blogs are so fun. They’re like creating our own magazines that we get to be the models in. Your yard is very sweet.
