Wear-all-the-blacks weekend wardrobe capsule

April 19, 2019

When I was deciding what I wanted to pack for my weekend trip to Cincinnati for our friends’ bar opening, I started to go through my closet. I am definitely in a “black phase”, so I decided to steer myself in that direction.

The weather there was a bit warmer than here, so I opted for less warm fabrics. It was snowing when I left here, so I still needed to have something warmish. I opted to wear my black ponte blazer with a lightweight RTW sweater, Sophia top and CAbi RTW pleather and ponte leggings on my way out. I also threw on a grey warm pashmina scarf/shawl. Shoes were Etienne Aglier, purse and travel backpack were me-made. I don’t always wear head to toe me-mades, but it is usually at least 50%.

I just took off the blazer, scarf, added jewelry and a small bag to go out that night.

Our second day there was a trip to a brewery. We basically rolled out of bed, took a quick shower and met up with our friends to go to Streetside (great family run brewery). Something comfy was in store for the day, so I wore a RTW top (that I have since copied), my RTW sweater again and my burgundy cargo pants. Shoes were comfy ones from Jambu and hip purse was me-made.

While the guys went to the bar early to help out with any last minute chores, I went back to the hotel to shower and change for the night before walking over. I wore my new moto pants (blog post to come yet), my lace and bamboo top and a RTW light long sweater vest. Purse was me-made and shoes were Jambu.

Our way out was an early morning hike to the airport. I wore a pair of RTW fleece leggings, my new cracked skin top (modified Rulo from G & G) and my blazer. Boots from Etienne Anglier and purse me-made.

I had actually packed another outfit for Saturday night if I felt more festive, but this one was more comfy. A lot of standing around and talking so I needed the more comfy shoes! I could have packed several more outfits that I loved how they looked, which is why it is so nice to have a closet full of me-mades that are suited towards your style and shape.

Sewing is such a great hobby and holds a lot of joy for me. It really lets me be creative and look and feel my best!
