Pattern hacking | Sewing for me

Basics are nice

February 17, 2020

You know, making something creative and difficult is both enthralling and frustrating at the same time. It is nice to just make a simple top sometimes.

This is my pattern mash up of the Sneha top (Wardrobe by Me) with the Sophia top (Bella Sunshine Designs). It is a loose knit tunic from a rayon/spandex jersey from Nature’s Fabrics that I purchased last fall. It doesn’t have a nice soft hand, but it has a nice structure and drape to it. I probably wouldn’t buy this fabric type again, just since I like the bamboo jersey and modal better.

I wore this to work with a grey sweater, my new warm Bos boots I purchased on Zulily (fur lining!), a pair of fleece lined leggings and my scarf I made last year. I hadn’t worn it yet, since I did a leather with snaps edge on it that didn’t really match much. I took off the leather and sewed it together with the yarn I still had on hand.

These loom knitted cowls are so nice this time of year. It is freezing out! I have some black to knit up, since *shocker* I don’t have a plain black one. I will have to rectify that…

This week I am hoping to make another top like one I have posted about on Instagram last week. I have some more fabric, so I just need to make adjustments to the pattern, take some pics of the pattern pieces and and get a blog post up. Hopefully by some point this weekend!
