February in review

March 2, 2019

I am trying to stay on task, so actually have my February month in review done.

  • Had a job interview…it went well, I think.  Then they made me take some tests, and they really didn’t go well.  It has been YEARS since I have completed anything like that, so I just didn’t get through them fast enough.  I’m not holding out much hope that they will call me back.  Onward!
  • One thing I have noticed on my break from work is that I am getting sleep.  I am actually dreaming again, since it seemed for the longest time I rarely dreamed.  It was very likely due to the fact that I just didn’t get much sleep.  I have been making up for it now.  I feel a bit decadent in sleeping in, but I know it won’t last nearly long enough.  It is nice not being exhausted all the time.

  • House projects have come to a bit of a halt.  I got a few things done, but I really need the weather to warm up.  I want to paint some cabinets in the house, but I need warmth outside so I can set it up in the garage.  That is not happening right now.  In the meantime I cleaned out some cabinets and closets.

  • I read a lot in February, so I really didn’t get much else done.  I caught up on some of my book series, so that was a win!
  • I did make a few designs:
  • I have mostly kept up with the 52 week sewing challenge.  I didn’t necessarily post everything, however.  I forgot to get one of the pictures.

  • I have really been trying to make dinners to save money.  We ate out A LOT last year.  I have a few things that I do keep in the freezer for quick meals, but I have also been making dinners.  I have also been making my people eat leftovers.  It is a process.  I have a recipe I made last month that was really, really good.  I need to take some pictures and put up a proper post on it.
  • At the beginning of the year I set a budget.  We are pretty much on task for it, so I call that a win.  I download all our creditcard charges and bank charges and put everything in a spreadsheet and categorize everything I can.  It is helpful to stay on top of it.  There were some times in years past that half a year would go by without paying attention to how we were spending our money and that tends to make things get out of hand.  You just think you are doing fine, when really, you need to focus on priorities. I hope when I go back to work I can continue to stay on top of everything.

I think that is it for the month.  I didn’t really sew much last month and felt a bit lazy.  Now I need to really focus on trying to get a new job.  Darn it! 😉  It is nice that I have been able to take a bit of a sabbatical, but I need to get back into the work force and earn money to pay the bills.
