Momentary Ink tattoo

April 26, 2019

I saw an ad on Instagram for some different temporary tattoos from a company called Momentary Ink. These are like your normal temporary tattoos that you give the kids, only it has a “de-glossing” liquid you put over the top of them. They also are “sticky” when you put them on your skin, so they don’t shift when you apply them.

I thought that sounded like a good idea, so I purchased 4 of them in my own designs.

They are different from inbox in that:

  • These are cheaper than the inkbox designs ($12 vs. $18).
  • You can print anything, in any color.
  • You can print larger designs.

I am regrettably having issues getting more tattoos printed at inkbox.com due to their design restrictions. The lines need to be at least 3pts, and that would mean I would have to redraw my designs. There are areas that would be very different if I needed to draw them larger. I’m not sure I want to spend the time to do that since I’ve only sold a few of my wolf so far.

Okay, back to Momentary Ink.

These do feel different, and don’t last as long as the inkbox ones that have actual dye that leaks into your skin. They do, however, sell an ink that sounds a lot like the inkbox ink. Only cheaper.

The big plus is that I can print out more intricate designs like the big horn sheep skull, with the additional tattoo designs on the horns. There is no way I could get this to work on inkbox. I can tell a bit of the outline of the temporary tattoo, but it doesn’t show the shiny-ness of a temporary tattoo once you put on the liquid.

Side note: if you actually read the directions, it says to cut off the extra white around the tattoo. Make SURE to do this, because that ends up showing.

After wearing it for a few days, I noticed that it acquires lint from your clothes. I wear a lot of black, so it really showed up. I ended up taking it off after about 4 days. I think it will last definitely a week or so. If you put it on a place that won’t rub against clothes so much, I imagine it will look better. If I had cut off the extra white, I would have kept it on, since the black lint wouldn’t have been such a big deal.

This is just a fun way to wear a tattoo-ish design if you can’t ever make up your mind like me!
