March in review

April 2, 2019

It is already the beginning of April. This year is just flying by! With not working right now, I am realizing that although I having “nothing to do” my days still fly by. I was hoping to have more projects finished, but I seem to fill my days with other things regardless (i.e. cleaning up after my family).

Here is my review of my goals for March.

I am working on finding my next job, and it seems to be more difficult than I thought it would. There is a lot of meetings and running around to be done. A lot of talking to people. I don’t really mind that part, as I have been working by myself for a year. It is just a bit wearing to continually be talking about yourself. I have met with recruiters, networked and had two interviews and one “kind of” interview. I’m hoping something comes along, but I am not in a huge hurry.

Not much done on the house front in March. I have stayed on task with keeping the house cleaned, but we need to go through the kids bedrooms. I am hoping this Spring Break week we can work towards getting some stuff out of the house.

I did go through some cabinets and got rid of a lot of games we no longer play. Glad to get some of those out of the house and onto others that will use them more.

I read a few books and created a reading list in my journal for what I finished. I actually read more new books than I thought I did. Last one I finished was a quick read: The boy in the striped pajamas. It was sad, as you can imagine a Holocaust book would be.

I have kept up with my journal. I really like having it, and being able to see what I need to do, and also what I have accomplished.

I created several tiled designs and even tried to put together some collections. I am hoping to be able to shop them to some fabric companies, but we will see. From what I have read online, it isn’t exactly lucrative, and may be costly to the designer. I guess I can see what happens. I won’t know until I submit it!

I kept up with the #52 week sewing challenge. The challenges for the last month were:

I also sewed up a few other items, including this green draped top I made before I went to a meeting with a potential employer. I didn’t have a top to match the jacket, so I made one of course (jacket and trousers from CAbi)! 🙂

A few things I would like to get done before I go back to work, so I need to get on them:

  • Work on and finish up our 2017 photo book
  • Work on “my book”. I have been daydreaming quite a bit on my story and characters. It would be a series. I just need to start writing and see what I need to work on for it. It is an interesting project even if nothing comes of it.
  • Paint the kids’ rooms
  • Paint the cabinets in the bathroom upstairs. I painted the walls earlier this year and it is all decorated. I just need to get that hard piece done.
  • I would like to do a refresh on our bedroom, but not sure when I will have time to do that. It has been the same for about 14 years, and it wasn’t an easy painting project.

So many things to do, just not enough time and ENERGY to do them!
