Sewing new work clothes

May 31, 2019

After I got my job offer I decided to try on my work pants. The last time I wore most of them was about 1.5 years ago before I started working from home. The yoga pants have not been kind to me. 😉

Yes, nonnnnnnne of them fit!

So! Time to make something I can wear and sit at work while I’m away from the ever open refrigerator.

This is a pattern that started as a pair of basic lounge pants and have modified a bit to fit a bottom-weight stretch woven. It is slightly wide legged with a doubled up waistband to help contain the mummy tummy.

This was a designer sample from a fabric warehouse for the pants. I did a line of stitching for a pintuck down the center front.

The top is my own design based off a woven top I purchased several years back. The sleeves are a bit batwing. The main design is one of my own on Modern Jersey and the sleeves are bamboo lycra.

The pants were one of my #makenines for the year.

This was my first version, so afterwards I made changes…

I decreased the waist on this one and adjust the crotch curves. This one fit better. The fabric is like a scuba knit, but it isn’t. This was another warehouse purchase where it had minimal details on the end of the bolt.

The top started out as a dress last year, so this was after cutting it apart. Pretty happy with it. This is a ponte.

I also made a skirt using my basic skirt block, with adding a flounce around the bottom. This was a bottom weight woven in brown and blacks. Top was made several years ago.

I still have a few more things I want to make, but I also went and purchased some tops. I was running out of ideas, and they will be good RTW templates for when I want to make something. There was a bit of guilt in buying RTW clothes, but it did take some pressure off.
